Pregnancy Choices Training

Learn how to provide support and information through a greater understanding of pregnancy choices.

The Pregnancy Choices Training is a 2-day course that defines and explains all the options available to people experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.

The course covers the broad social and political issues as well as clinical options, incorporating cultural considerations into topics and resources.

Course Outline

Participants will:

  • discuss the social and political context of unplanned pregnancy and choices
  • consider the cultural implications of unplanned pregnancy including an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective as well as a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse perspective
  • learn about family and domestic violence in the context of unplanned pregnancy
  • explore a broader understanding of adoption, abortion, perinatal mental health, young parenting and counselling responses to unplanned pregnancy

The course is open to nurses, midwives, doctors, counsellors, community health workers, school counsellors, youth workers, Aboriginal Health Workers and any professional who may work with clients with unplanned pregnancy.
