At SHINE SA we aim to foster a safe and inclusive environment for Aboriginal people to access relationships and sexual health services.

We work hard to ensure that we collaborate and partner with communities and service providers to develop culturally appropriate information and services, and promote a holistic approach to health.

Our vision is that SHINE SA will build positive relationships with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in SA to support real and lasting improvement in the sexual health of the community.

Community Sector Workers

Our courses aim to provide Aboriginal workers with an increased level of knowledge and confidence when working with clients and colleagues in the area of sexual and reproductive health and relationships.

Schools Education and Support

The Aboriginal Focus Schools Program aims to increase the capacity of principals, teachers, Anangu Education Workers, Aboriginal Community Education Officers, parents and school communities in targeted schools to promote and improve the relationships and sexual health literacy and wellbeing of school students in Years 5-10. This is achieved through age and culturally appropriate curriculum, resources and professional development. The SHINE SA Schools Education and Support Team also offers the Teaching It Like It Is – Aboriginal Course. This is a 2-day relationships and sexual health education course that is suitable to Aboriginal education workers, teachers, SSOs, principals and counsellors who work with Aboriginal young people in schools.

SHINE SA Services

For sexual health services, you can make an appointment or drop in to a clinic. Counselling services are available for individuals, couples and families. Telephone appointments can be requested, especially for rural / remote clients.

Our clinical teams at SHINE SA include doctors, registered nurses/midwives and counsellors.
